The Laurel Saddle Club started in August of 1945. The LSC hosted Laurel's first rodeo in June of 1947 with an attendance of only 3,000 spectators. At that time the arena was located at the corner of Hazel and Date in Laurel. The events were Calf Roping and Team Tying with purses of $1,090 and Bronc Riding tryouts in which the contestants were paid $10 to ride a bronc. The arena and rodeo were moved to East Sixth Street and Fir Avenue the following year. The Laurel Saddle Club is now located 250 Buffalo Trail Road (at the corner of Clapper Flat Road and Buffalo Trail Road).
One of the most popular events throughout the years has been trail rides. We host mountain rides, day rides, overnight rides, and cattle gatherings. The trail rides are a relaxing and positive way to make new friends.
The Laurel Saddle Club has ridden in the Laurel, Montana 4th of July Parade since 1947. Our traditional garb of white hats, white shirts, blue jeans and saddle pads can be seen in every Laurel parade.
We are 3.5 miles north of Laurel, just north of the intersection of Clapper Flat Road and Buffalo Trail Road.
