The Laurel Saddle Club started in August of 1945.  The LSC hosted Laurel's first rodeo in June of 1947 with an attendance of only 3,000 spectators.  At that time the arena was located at the corner of Hazel and Date in Laurel.  The events were Calf Roping and Team Tying with purses of $1,090 and Bronc Riding tryouts in which the contestants were paid $10 to ride a bronc.  The arena and rodeo were moved to East Sixth Street and Fir Avenue the following year.  The Laurel Saddle Club is now located 250 Buffalo Trail Road (at the corner of Clapper Flat Road and Buffalo Trail Road).

One of the most popular events throughout the years has been trail rides.  We host  mountain rides, day rides, overnight rides, and cattle gatherings.  The trail rides are a relaxing and positive way to make new friends.

The remaining Yellowstone County Sheriff's posse members joined the LSC in 2007.  Since then, they have been hosting cowboy polo tournaments at the arena.  You can see them practicing a couple nights a week there and can catch a tournament in June of each year.

A Club Rich in History

A lot has changed since the early days of the Laurel Saddle Club, but one constant remains, horsemanship.  Our mission is to keep the Laurel Saddle Club traditions of the past and engage in the present and future with varied activities and events for horse owners and enthusiasts.  The Laurel Saddle Club focuses on spreading fun and goodwill among horse owners.

We welcome new members and visitors alike.  Please bookmark our site and return for
our monthly newsletters and events.  Our Calendar is updated monthly.  We invite you to
attend our many events held throughout the year.

We have a large arena that can be used by our members at any time outside of a previously scheduled event.  Our clubhouse and arena are also available for rent.  See the "Forms" tab
above for more information on membership and clubhouse or arena rentals

A newsletter is sent out each month detailing our events and meetings.  We have guest speakers for our meetings several times a year.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  While the LSC welcomes any and all inquiries about the club, we are not a Dude Ranch or Horse Rental Facility.  The LSC does not own horses.  Each member must provide their own horse for events and trail rides.   Please use your favorite search engine on the internet to search for Dude Ranches or Horse Rentals for horseback riding tours.
