2008 Annual Meeting, Banquet and Election of LSC Officers

Time:        6:00 p.m.  Social Hour     7:00 p.m. Dinner

Dinner will be a buffet with Beef and Chicken, a salad, dessert, and your choice of a soft drink, tea or coffee.  Banquet tickets are $17.00/E (includes dinner tip).  Please RSVP to Sara @ 749.3297 or sara@area406.com.   Make checks payable to the LSC and mail to:

Laurel Saddle Club baseball caps will be for sale at $15.00/E.  $5.00 from each cap purchased will go into a cash drawing.  At 8:30 p.m., we will draw the winning number for the LSC cap cash prize.  There will also be LSC window decals for sale @ $5.00/E.

There will be a silent auction running from 6:00 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.  At the close of the auction, the highest bidders may pay at the LSC check in desk and claim their purchases. 

Everyone is welcome!  Bring your friends and anyone interested in joining The Laurel Saddle Club.

04/22/07 - LSC Sunday Fun Day starting @ 10:00 a.m.  Join us at the LSC arena for a family oriented day of games on horseback!   Justin Roberts, Captain of the LSC Cowboy Polo Team, will be giving a demonstration on how to play Cowboy Polo.  He will also be giving lessons for people interested in learning to play Cowboy Polo.  If you are interested in joining the Polo Team this is a perfect opportunity to give it a try.  Contact Heather Zaparynuk @ 406.628.6095 or 406.788.2199 or hrmp1984@yahoo.com for more details.  Anyone wishing to volunteer to help at the event, please contact Heather.   **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**

04/28/06 - Back Roads Horseback Poker Run.  Beginning @ 10:00 a.m.  Sign up at Two Bears Tavern in Fromberg.  $35.00 per rider includes breakfast @ Two Bears Tavern and a BBQ.  Cash prizes for best card hands.  Live music at 8:00 p.m.  For more information call 406.668.9491.

05/12/07 - LSC Gathering cattle @ The Thiel Ranch (Near Bridger).  We will be
gathering cow/calf pairs for branding the next day.  Meet at Stake Your Claim Bar (used

05/25, 26 & 27 -  Class "A" Arabian Horse Show.  Open Horse show @ the Super Barn in
Metra Park.  The Feed Bag Cafe on the backside of the racetrack will be open. No admission

06/02/07 - Back Country Horseman Poker Ride (Rapelje). The Greater Yellowstone Back Country Horsemen is sponsoring a Poker Ride in Rapelje on June 3rd. Cost is $15.00 per rider and lunch is included at the Stockman Cafe in Rapelje.   Start time 11:00 a.m. - if you want to camp there the night before there are accommodations. 06/03/07 - St Jude Benefit Trail Ride (Fishtail).  Sign in by 9:00 a.m.  Ride is aproximately 10 miles.  All proceeds to benefit the St Jude Foundation.  A Chili Feed by the Spring Creek Stock Growers 4H group is available after the ride for an additional fee.  Call Terlene (406)328-6965 for more information.  Please call to RSVP.

06/09/07 - Head for the Hills Poker Ride (8 miles north of Logan).  Cross the Gallatin River and follow the signs.  For more information, contact Pat @ 406.285.6949.  Riders may choose the 12 mile or 8 mile loop.  The fee is $15.00 which includes a BBQ at the end of the ride.  Riders will leave between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  Snacks and drinks are provided.  After the fifth card is drawn riders may exchange up to three cards in his/her hand for $5.00 each.  Prizes will be awarded to the best five hands.  There will also be Door prizes. All Proceeds will benefit the Eagle Mount aquatic facility.  *No stallions, foals or dogs*

06/16 & 17 -  LSC Cowboy Polo Tournament.  We need volunteers to help run concessions @ the Cowboy Polo Tournament on June 16th & 17th. This event needs breakfast (donuts & coffee), and lunch.  You could be done by 2:00 p.m.  We have a head count of approximately 60 people.

07/03/07 - LSC July meeting is the Laurel Parade prep meeting below. 
There is no monthly meeting or newsletter in July.

07/03/07 -  LSC 4th of July Laurel Parade prep meeting @ 7:00 p.m.  We will be meeting at 602 5th Avenue (in Laurel) to decorate the float.  Please Contact Mike Hughes @ 406.962.3429 or hughesmk1@wildblue.net with questions.  The LSC wants to really make a splash at this years annual parade.  We are going to build a float and we need your ideas.  Andy Miller  will provide a truck and trailer for the float.  Mike has a friend in Laurel with a building that the float and parade equipment can be parked in.  Kim is also planning on taking her Buggy in the parade. Call Kim or Mike with ideas and planning suggestions.
This years theme is:  "100 Years Strong"

07/04/07 -  Laurel 4th of July Parade, 11 am start.  Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Woods Power Grip parking lot to finish decorating riders horses, buggy, and float.  Parade participants must be in proper LSC uniform colors.  White hat and shirt, blue jeans and a blue bandana.

07/07/07 -  Back Country Horseman Poker Ride (Bozeman).  The Gallatin Valley Back Country Horsemen are having their 19th annual Poker ride at the Bridger Bowl Ski parking lot (near Bozeman).  Breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m. for a cost of $5.00.  You can begin to ride between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  One poker hand, along with lunch and a chance to win great prizes is $15.00. 08/11/07 - LSC Red Lodge Ride (Silver Run Trail).  This is a cross country ski trail that consists of 4 loops.  We will meet @ 9:30 a.m. at the Silver Strike bowling alley on the right hand side of the road when you first enter Red Lodge. 08/25/07 - 3rd Annual Horsin' Around At Yellowstone Downs, sponsored by Midland Horse Racing Association.  This is a benefit for horse racing at The Yellowstone Downs Grandstands.  Doors open at 5:00 p.m.  There will be a banquet, live auction, silent auction, raffles, live simulcast horseracing, live music & a no host bar. 08/25/07 -  LSC Moccasin Lake Trail Ride (South of Big Timber).  This is a trail that is
suitable for all levels of riders. The trail head is about 16 miles south east of McLeod.  Take Big Timber exit # 370 and we will meet at The Fort gas station in Big Timber at 9:00 a.m. - leaving by 9:30 a.m.  Contact Elaine Gliko at 406.656.1991 or 406.860.6350 or e-mail her @ egliko@usadig.com  Weather and/or Fire conditions in the area may cause cancellation

09/15 & 16 - Donna Reimer Horse Driving Workshop @ The Laurel Saddle Club -
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Donna will be teaching a 2 day Beginning Driving Workshop with a limit of 10 student/participants.  There is no limit on auditors.  Trained horses will be provided for the students to learn with.  Donna's credentials are as follows:  3 time World Champion Driver, Single, Pairs,  4-up, and 6 -up. One time National Champion Driver.  Only woman ever to win an Eight-up at a National Show. 09/28, 29 & 30 - Saddle Fitting Clinic. September 28th 6 - 9 p.m. is the lecture/demo.  Carol Brett explains biomechanics in a way that is fun and easy to understand.  There will be interactive exercises involving all participants.  Demo horses will be used to show how saddling affects movement.  September 29 - 30 are individual consultants (by appointments only).  Call Jean Allbright @ 406.259.4788 or e-mail j.allbright@bresnan.net for more information.    Lecture/Demo $30.00    Individual consult $100.00 + small donation to the Star Handicapped riding program.

10/20/07 - Kids N Cowboys with the LSC .  Events starts at 2:00 p.m. at the Metra Park bandstand area, also called the Montana Stage.  Click on below Metrapark link for a map of the grounds and directions to the meeting area.   http://www.metrapark.com/seats/grounds.asp   Call Sara @ 406.749.3297 or e-mail sara@area406.com for more details.  For LSC members bringing horses for the Kids N Cowboys,  PLEASE NOTE that all horses must remain in a halter (no bridles) and that all horses must be lead by the owner/handler.  Kids N Cowboys participants are not allowed to ride the members/owners horses unattended.  They may only ride if they are being led in a halter by the member/owner due to insurance and liability reasons.  NO GREEN BROKE OR SPOOKY HORSES - ONLY SEASONED, QUITE HORSES ARE ALLOWED.  IF YOUR HORSE ACTS UP OR IS HAVING A BAD DAY YOU MUST REMOVE YOUR HORSE IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN AND OTHER PARTICIPANTS.

**The Kids N Cowboys event will NOT be cancelled if it rains.  The NILE has
an indoor area that we can use if weather conditions are unfavorable**

10/27/07 – LSC work day. The 2 work sessions are from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  BBQ lunch from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. will be provided for volunteers.  Please bring gloves.  There are specific jobs to be accomplished on this day.  Volunteers may choose which time and which project they would like to work on.  Please contact Sara @ 406.749.3297 or sara@area406.com to let her know what time you can help and which project you would like to work on.
